Yeah, uhh- I was kind of afraid of making a topic for my OCs FIRST. (B; Before anyone else. It's so awkward for me.
...I don't even know how to go at this.
OKAY, let's start by describing Lyssa, since she's the spinal cord for these three characters. I'll set this up in sections, so it's not so confusing or difficult to read. I'm mostly being true to Greek Mythology up to section 3 . That's when it starts getting to be entirely made-up.
:1 Lyssa, otherwise known as Mania, was the Greek Goddess of rage, fury, madness, in other words... INSANITY. Her powers are within her name: she could break a person's mind quite easily, tap into their weak points, strangle their insight. She was a common figure of Athenian tragedy, as she was very often summoned by other Gods or Witches and Sorcerers to do their bidding, using her powers through her name to inflict insanity on their foes. Her powers were summoned so often that she grew weary of the many Gods using her, and she often saw a lack of justice in summoning her to do these innocents so much ill.
The last being to ever summon Lyssa was Artemis, the virgin Goddess of hunting.
:2 She [Artemis] was bathing in the lake Parthenius on the hunting grounds of Gargaphia, whereupon the youthful hunter Actaeon stumbled upon the area and saw her fully naked. Enraptured by her beauty, Actaeon failed to avert his eyes, and she threatened him to keep silent or else she would inflict her wrath upon him. When Actaeon heard his cohorts call out to him, he called back out of fear, hoping they might come to rescue him. Artemis, angered, summoned the powers of Lyssa to drive Actaeon's own dogs insane, and they tore him apart and devoured him.
:3 Lyssa then descended on the scene, and she addressed Artemis, and she called upon the attention of all the other Gods, and she said, "You who summon me, desiring destruction... It is YOU who shall be destroyed by my power." And so became a pillar of absolute chaos, inflicting madness upon the world, to create a nightmare world, a result of the Gods' collective arrogance. The Dead grew fond living flesh, and all mortal things became crazed.
:4 During this time, the drifting soul of Actaeon saw Lyssa's intent, and understood her pain, and knew how to quell it. Actaeon fought through the Underworld to approach Hades and request to go back to the world of the living where he could relieve the world of Mania. Hades consented to his wishes, but on the condition that Actaeon shall never truly pass on.
:5 Actaeon accepted these terms, and Hades created a pendant out of the young man's soul. He personally carried the pendant to the world of the living and placed it around the throat of a stag whose mind and soul had gone [as a result of Lyssa's wrath]. Actaeon became the stag, bringing its mind to life again.
:6 It was through much turmoil and with the help of many Gods [especially Hermes and Chiron] that Actaeon found he could not fully succeed in his ambitions at that time. Instead, he was forced to learn the ways of sorcery, casting a forbidden spell to seal Lyssa away into the realm of nothingness, where she would remain nothing.
In casting this spell, Actaeon had drained the body of the stag so that it died. But he still moved, and he approached the Gods to make a request as his body rotted.
:7 He [Actaeon] told the Gods that Lyssa would not remain in the realm of nothingness forever, that some day she would return to the world, much angrier than before, and her wrath would be less encompassing, more calculated. She would use any means necessary to make the Gods suffer.
He said that he would be the one to stop Lyssa when she returned, but the Gods saw that Actaeon was too tired to go on. So, they decided to put Actaeon's soul in a state of rest until Mania arose again.
MORE ON ACTAEON... (Spoiler'd to make this post look a LITTLE shorter)
Spoiler
Hermes was assigned the job of keeping the pendant (Actaeon's soul, that is) and transferring information to him since he knew the guy so well after that whole event with Lyssa. After a bit he got this INGENIOUS plan to stuff the pendant into the head of a cute little teddy bear so that Actaeon could have something to control the MOMENT he starts moving again, but promptly forgot where he put the darn thing. (The pendant/Actaeon, that is.)
Then one night (I like to believe it was very shortly after Theresa's little...power-kick in Phantom Rising) Herry gets attacked in his sleep (I still haven't decided what by, probably something possessed by Lyssa or whatever) and his teddy bear is destroyed in the process. Well, this leaves Herry in a VERY bad mood for quite a while, unable to sleep and all, until Hermes remembers he has a teddy bear (but not remembering WHY) and gives it to him as a replacement teddy...and Herry names the teddy bear "Lil Buddy #2".
Shortly after that, Actaeon's sleeping spell is lifted thanks to Lyssa's reappearance and he instantly runs off to fight off the lady, leaving Herry without a teddy bear. Again. Until they finally find the amulet-possessed living-teddy fighting some kind of monster with MAGIC and... the rest is up to you. xD Though I'm definitely sticking to the story that somehow, some way, the teens and Actaeon make an agreement that he can help them with Cronus and they will help him with Lyssa. And Herry can keep his new teddy bear, as much as Actaeon hates being slept on.
NOW FOR LYSSA/DELILAH (Had to be de-spoilerized because it's being evil at me) SO, Lyssa was trapped in a state of non-existence in the anti-realm of semi-material nonexistence (aka the body of Khaos), only to reform her body in the material world, but her body is incomplete and she needs to use a mortal's body ... I know, it makes little to no sense. Don't think too hard on it.
I like to believe that she tried taking over Theresa's sanity and body first-thing, hoping to incorporate her body (during Phantom Rising) which would be a good reason as to why the girl jumped the gun and her powers got so intense like that. But Theresa's will is a little too powerful for her possession, so it doesn't work out quite as she wished it to.
SO a little after that, she flounders partially between immaterial nonexistence and material existence until she finally finds the perfect host: Delilah, a very short and physically underdeveloped 16-year old girl whose will is very weak. And when I say her will is WEAK, I mean it's so freaking weak that she once tweaked out and nearly killed her best friend in Elementary School. Lyssa's completion in the process of becoming material again finally triggers Actaeon's awakening, and she instantly starts causing well-planned trouble.
Now, Delilah... I already said that she nearly killed her best friend and got kicked out of Elementary School. Because of this, Delilah was forced to undergo mental treatment for a straight 13 years with homeschooling and was only just released from this state of isolation in the time-period during the last few episodes of CotT.
She acts perfectly sane, is fun to be around, has an awesome sense of humor, and is quite the artist...But every weekend she becomes Lyssa, without even knowing it. (B
WHEW. Okay. I think that's it. xD That took me a while. I'm sure you lot have TONS of questions. SO. Ask away. xD

Hm! I see what you mean. +Tries to fix this+ Darn good thing I was using Springnote to write this up.
And Actaeon, yes...Actaeon is AMAZING. I have so much fun drawing him with his strained expression or sitting on Herry's shoulder looking comfy and content.
I seriously was NOT thinking of Sands of Destruction when I first started making him. In fact I...kinda...didn't know it existed at the time. >>; Ehh-heh.
ALSO. Actaeon and Artemis are both mutually afraid of each other. Neither of them want to be in the same room, EVER.
Actaeon fears Artemis because he thinks she has an unreasonable temper that got him killed in the first place--and he thinks she still might be angry enough at him to do something ELSE equally horrid
aaaand Artemis fears Actaeon because of how much he's grown in power over the many many years (though he is incapable of USING such supposed powers). She believes that after what she did to him, he'll NEVER forgive her and he'll get her back for it.
...It's such a weird set of mutual feelings, but I love it. x3
...Delilah's just a classmate. xD She doesn't know ANYTHING about the lives of the big seven. She DOES, however, have a deep friendship with Atlanta because she was so supportive on her first REAL day of school. Then Atlanta introduced her to the other six...and they hang out whenever the heck they can. 83
She doesn't know where they live, and they don't know where she lives.
...Mmmmbut I dunno if I wanna make it into a fic or not.
I mean, I COULD, but...
I could also get other peoples' help in the matter and...you know...RP it? >>;
I mean, at least it would be a roleplay (or a STRING of roleplays) that actually has a beginning and an end.
...
'Coz I already know the end to Actaeon and Lyssa's story, as far-off as it is.
And Actii would be all, "WOULD YOU NOT?!" because that's a favorite quote of his aside from "Guh".
...As for the whole "love" thing... +Coughs... looks to Actii for confirmation+ Actaeon: ONLY PLATONIC FUZZY TEDDY LOVE. B| And even saying THAT is revolting. Everything warm and tender revolts you, hun. (B Actaeon: If I had a real stomach, I'd be capable of explaining to you HOW MUCH. 83 If you had a stomach you'd probably have already gotten acid reflux from your pissy attitude. Actaeon: ... +Shuts up.+
Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnope. I mean, she thinks Neil is adorable...like a button. But otherwise she just thinks everyone is fun to hang out with. 83
ALSO. One of the best things about Delilah is this one scene I wrote up where Jay and Theresa are talking about Cronus and stuff and the only JUST realize Delilah is there, and they're like "O_______________O" and she's like "...Don't be so shy. 83 I roleplay, too."
Everytime Imogen overhears someone talking about the Gods or something, she's all, "Hey! Did that happen in the Bronze Age?" and the others are like, "Ssssssure......"
I can't wait to meet Delilah properly. (B
I mean in story format.

Nia: Oh Herry, with your biceps so mighty, in your sideburns I trust!
YES. She moved in on our block just a few months ago and we hit it off INSTANTLY. Basically, it went like this:
Me: +Chipping at the ice on the driveway slavishly+ >B( Yaz: +Walkin' her poocheh+ Poocheh: +Comes over and starts licking my ankle+ 83 Me: ... O^O OH YOU ARE THE SWEETEST THING LIVING! +Instantly starts playing with+ Yaz: +Watches+ 83; Me: (B +To the poocheh+ You look almost exactly like Dogmatix. Yaz: ... B3 That's 'coz he IS Dogmatix.
...And then we started talking about Asterix and comics and cartoons and... it was so wonderful. (B Her brother is Cooper. He's, like... a year younger than her. And yes, Dogmatix looks almost EXACTLY like Dogmatix.
DUDE YOU KEEP POSTING WITHOUT EVEN SHOWING UP ON THE ACTIVE MEMBERS LIST, EMILY. YOU'RE LIKE A FRIGGEN NINJA!! NINJA!!!!!!!! NINJA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. Her mom named him Dogmatix. xD I love her mom. She's AWESOME.
ANYWAY SO YEAH... I scanned some dumb sketches of Lyssa and of the similarities/differences between Lyssa and Delilah's faces:
POST YOUR PICTURES OF ACTAEON, GIRL!!!! -flickers!-

DB But it's so much work to SCAN them AND WOULD YOU NOT FLICKER?! THERE IS A STRICT "NO FLICKERING" POLICY ON THIS THREAD, JUST IN CASE YOU MIGHT TURN INTO A MONSTER WHILST FLICKERING.
Sadly... they never truly get to meet. 8/ Or at least, Delilah never meets Actaeon. Per se.
Actii isn't allowed to move or speak in public, being a possessed teddy bear and all. I mean, he could talk to her if one of the Titans took the amulet off the teddy and wore it themselves so that he could possess them, but even then, it would be far too risky.
Delilah DOES at one point find Actii lying in the middle of the floor and she picks him up and starts talking to him... because she has a funny habit of talking to inanimate objects, ESPECIALLY stuffed toys. And poor Actii... Poor, poor Actii... He develops a crush on her. )B But it can never be.
...Yeah, he gets to the point where he throws mild fireballs at the Teens. (B Lucky they're fast to dodge. But that's only BEFORE he finally settles down and decides it's best to work with them.
Otherwise, he's just... grumpy. He never gets TOO angry. Not to the point of yelling, at least.
... He does constantly remark on what he has against Archie, tho. A lot. In fact almost every time he addresses Archie, it's like "Oh and by the way you discriminate too much for your own good." 'N stuff.
Grumpy Teddies are the best kind of Teddy. 83 Kurtis: *picks up Actaeon* :3 Actaeon:........boo. Kurtis: nhdfjsnhlsnhdsh *throws him at Herry* DX *runs*

I can't really say much for her looks, because (like I said before) she's physically under-developed. Tiny, flat, no curves whatsoever, kinda podgy face, et cetera.
I donno really WHY he falls for her, except that she's got charisma. Which is kinda weird, seeing as she's spent 14 years of her life locked away from the outside world just to fix her behavior.
Well, she's VERY close with Neil, Atlanta and Theresa. She and another character (whose name will be revealed at a later date) seem to favor those three above the other Titans.
What's great is that, unlike the other girls, Delilah finds Neil's ongoing vanity to be an adorable/funny quirk and often eggs him on to be like that. It's nothing beyond friendship, though. Just a particular platonic fondness that catches on very quickly between the two.
She and another character (whose name will be revealed at a later date)
-wink wink-
ANYWAY, I WANNA KNOW ABOUT LYSSA. What color is her hair? What does her voice sound like? Does she sound like Mary Elizabeth McGlynn? If so, I will be so verr verr hap.

...For a second that looked like rice. Lyssa's hair is white like rice.
Mmmmm. -licks lips-
