Before I tell you about my new OC I should probably give background for those who don't know what a Mainade is.
They are nymphs, though there could also be human Mainades. They are sort of 'the nurses of the Gods', awakening their powers (apparently) and helping strengthen them as they share in their powers.
...................... I'm not sure if that even made sense, so here's a list of stuffles they can do:
To awaken the God
To run with the God
To share His attributes
 To tame wild things by nursing them
To call forth water and wine and milk and honey from the Earth
 To fight and not be harmed
To destroy
 To prophesy

They were created insane, in honor of Dionysus. As nurses, the Mænads awakened the infant Dionysos from His sleep. They worship Dionysus *Cough*DIMITRI*Cough* and are hateful toward men. Fearful of rape, they often wrapped snakes they tamed around themselves in sleep to protect themselves. The panther offers the combination of grace & beauty contrasted with bloody fierceness that is seen in the Mænads. An Orphic Hymn describes the Mænads as 'the beauteously girt ones" and says that they shout the cry of joy and excite the choruses to dance.
They're basically the crazy party nymphs. They are some talented rape-fearing ladies!

Now, for Maiya:

Maiya, descendent of Mainades the insane, ecstatic Nymph.

Personality:

Maiya is a pretty, tough-as-nails b!tch who just likes to have fun. She despises school, but gets through it because she knows she has to if she ever wants to get into vet school someday. She has an even, calm temper but is rather impatient. She is levelheaded and hard to anger, but if she IS mad she will not hesitate to beat the snot out of ANYBODY. “Especially any o them dang white girls.” She’s not specifically racist, but she grew up in a not-so-great neighborhood where separation of blacks=druggies and whites=pricks was the norm. But this tough personality is just her armor- she is naturally sweet and friendly, actually really shy because of a few specific psychological issues. Her thoughts are a bit twisted from inherited craziness (See description of Mainades) and medication. When her paranoia gets out of control she is a bit hard to handle, but her friends manage to calm her down.

She loves to dance, raise heck and have a good time, but she does not approve of men or sex whatsoever. She has a special gift with plants and animals- actually, nature in general, and can heal almost any living thing. Animals are naturally attracted to her, as they were with the Mainades, and she can tame them very easily. She’s tough and bitchy sometimes, and can seem very bipolar. Her favorite thing in the world is her unnaturally long-lived snake, Dionysus, as she loves snakes so much. Snakes, as well as panthers, are part of her heritage. She actually has a panther tattooed on her lower back, towards her right hip, and more often than not she prefers to wear clothing that let it show- especially while clubbing, of which she does a lot because she is somewhat of a party girl and can always get others to party with her- not that it’s not hard with some *Cough*ORBRIELLE*Cough*….. As much as she likes to party, Maiya is also celibate-for now-, slightly disapproving of sex but knowing that she’ll get into THAT when she’s ready for it, when she’s sure about it. Strangely enough, Maya feels most sane when she’s around Dimitri, the descendent of Dionysus, whom her ancestors were made insane to honor.

Skinny as heck, she contradicts herself with how much she loves meat, as Maenads were often carnivorous and hunted (Like panthers) for meals of raw meat. Maiya would describe herself as FIERCE. (LOL, PANTHER PUN! :D)

Appearance:

African American, long, thick, wavy black hair, bright hazel-gold-green eyes (XD), rounded face but with pointed features, high cheekbones, about 5’7”, short-ish/average compared to most models, but her legs are long in proportion to the rest of her body. Thin with good size breasts XD Perfect modeling body, basically.

History:

Maiya was born and raised with 3 brothers and both parents in California. The rents fought almost all the time, going to crazy lengths to all the kids on their side. Maiya was sort of driven crazy by this, as if she wasn’t naturally psycho at night. She began having nightmares, got anxiety problems, and developed paranoia when she was really little, which was unhealthy. But she was also discovered by a modeling agency at age nine, so soon enough after she began modeling for clothing stores and such she earned enough money for her medication, which helps MOST of the time. In summer she keeps calm by tending a garden, which she loves to do.

Because of her busy modeling schedule and her overall weirdness, however, she had trouble making friends. She had gotten close to a few girls over the years, but as she grew older it became even harder because of girls’ jealousy.

Things got especially bad when she turned 10, when her father started getting drunk, coming home to physically abuse and assault Maiya and her mother. This fully doubled Maiya’s sickness and she quit modeling for quite a while. Eventually their father became too much and Maiya’s oldest brother, Patrick, threatened her father with a knife. He backed off, but continued after a few weeks. The next time he tried to assault Maiya her brother protected her, but her father called the police on his son and got him emitted into juvie. After this situation Maiya’s mother worked up the courage to tell the police the truth and get a restraining order against her husband. Her son was not released from juvie.

When she turned fourteen her parents finally got divorced, and Maiya was put into custody of her mother, who made sure her daughter could pick her modeling back up when they moved to New Olympia. During her career, Maiya dabbled a little bit in drugs and drinking, even having a few-month-long episode of bulimia, but she didn’t get seriously into the booze until she turned sixteen, which was when the Titans discovered her. It was purely coincidental, since she’s small enough in Greek heritage to be nothing but a blip on Hera’s recruitment radar XP She never got out of control with her alcohol, however, knowing her limits well.

Atlanta was the first to make friends with Maiya, and soon after they began to hang out she was introduced to the rest of the team. As can be assumed, she wasn’t too fond of the guys, but everyone else she purely loved. She and Atlanta became very close, as well as she and the rest of the (Female and/or gay) Titans, which was when Hera realized that Maiya had the ancestry of one of the Mainades. She did not become officially part of the team, but she learned more about her Greek heritage and used her gardening and healing skills to create herbal remedies for the Titans and the Gods. This is what she is currently doing, as well as earning her money modeling, spending it shopping, and studying to bring up her grades (IMMY PLZ?!?!) for vet school.

Talents:

Dancing (Hiphop), gardening, animal training, healing, cooking (though she‘s not as good as Ally ^^), to fight and not be harmed, to protect others, to kinda-sorta prophecy. She has somewhat of a sixth sense when it comes to predicting things. “IT’S A TRAP!” D8, and when she connects with a Titan emotionally, like how close she gets with Atlanta, she can somewhat strengthen their powers, as the Mainades used to be able to do with the Gods they woke and nursed.

Clothing style:

Whoreish (B Usually a tight shirt that makes her boobs looks good with jeans, Daisy Duke shorts, or minis, and ALWAYS big hoop earrings and her favorite knee-high leather boots, which she found in a stripper store and bought as a joke but wears almost every day anyway.

Likes:

Baseball, clubbing, booze, R&B, technology (And/or Odie XD), modeling, peanut butter, meat(see nymph description), All-american style foods, especially BBQ, snakes and all other animals.

Dislikes:

Men, sex, straight men, school, classical music (Sorry Hails), white men, family, straightedges, troublemakers, cussing, and Mexican food.
